Our annual Food Awards, in which we honour food producers and individuals, as nominated by Euro-toques members and chosen by the Euro-toques Food Committee, who have made an outstanding contribution to food in Ireland.

 

Champagne Reception 12 noon

Award Ceremony begins 12.30 sharp

Award presentation will be followed by Lunch.

Awards will be presented by Neven Maguire

 

Tickets for Champagne Reception, Award ceremony & Lunch are €65 per person.

EU Mini-Chefs

European Day of Healthy Eating & Cooking For Children

Monday 8th November

Euro-toques International has joined forces with DG SANCO, the Health & Consumer Protection branch of the European Commission, on a major project to promote healthy eating amogst young children, based on developing their inerest in food preparation and cooking and taking pleasure in food.

WEBSITE: A website has been set up for the project at www.eu.mini-chefs.eu

It contains recipes designed for parents and children from each of the Euro-toques member countries. It will also contain interactive games, healthy eating advice, fun facts about food, and competition and event details. Those who sign up will receive a montly email newsletter with recipes and tips from top chefs.

COMPETITION: Euro-toques and the European Commission are running a competition for primary school children aged between 9-12 years to design a poster for the campaign.

Entries must be received by the Euro-toques Ireland office by 25th June.

The theme of the competition 'What the Pleasures of Eating Well mean to me' , and should fit in with the aims of the events on November 8th. The poster should be done as a group project.

The overall European winners will be win a trip to Brussels with their teacher/group leader.

EVENTS: The collaboration will culminiate with the European Day of Healthy Fodo & Cooking with Children on November 8th 2007. All Euro-toques members will be asked to visit their local primary school to carry out Taste workshops or invite a class to their restaurant for a simple lunch and talk.

We need as many members as possible, with the help of local food producers and parents, to take part and ensure this Europe-wide event is a success.

“Who's for Game?”

A journey through wild Irish game from forest to table

 

As part of our new educational partnership with La Rousse Foods, announced in the July newsletter, we have two upcoming events on the theme of ‘Who’s for Game? – A Journey through wild Irish game from forest to table’. The events aim to introduce chefs to all aspects of Irish game, from husbandry to preparation and butchery to treatment, cooking and presentation. Two afternoon sessions will take place in CIT on Tuesday, 30th October and DIT, Cathal Brugha Street on Monday, 5th November. The events are aimed at advanced student chefs and interested industry chefs and hope, with the shared experience of Dromoland Game, Euro-toques, the training colleges and La Rousse Foods, to give an insight into how you can turn some of Ireland’s finest resources into top quality gourmet dishes.

Please encourage a member of your kitchen staff to attend.

Baileys Euro-toques Young Chef of the Year 2007

The Baileys Euro-toques Young Chef Competition is open to chefs under 25 year of age on 31st of December 2007 and nominated by a Euro-toques member.

Provisional dates for the 2007 Competition are as follows (further details will available in Euro-toques newsletters and mail-outs):

21st Sept  - Competition Opens for Entries - Entry forms will be distributed to all Euro-toques members

12th Oct -   Deadline for Entries - All completed entries must reach the Euro-toques office by 5pm

5th Nov -    Interviews - Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview in Dublin

1st Dec -    Cook-off - the five finalists will compete in a cook-off in DIT, Cathal Brugha Street

2nd Dec -   Baileys Young Chef of the Year 2007 Award Lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin

                 - the five finalists cook lunch for invited guests and the overall winner is announced.
